Hola de España + unplugging

~ 1 ~
Hola a todos!! :)

~ 2 ~
Yes, and I am blogging.
Morgan and her hubby, Chris, are both at work... and it's COLD outside.
So, what's a girl to do??

~ 3 ~
Here are a few iPhone pics of the events so far... which really have been me just hanging out and doing NOTHING! Which is perfect. :)
A whole ROW to myself on the leg to Madrid.
Morgan and Chris' backyard.
Um, yea. Can you say amazing?!
I have been doing a lot of this in the morning... because, well...
because I can. :)
~ 4 ~
Since the other Morgan (yes... I have TWO good friend Morgans in my life now. I affectionally refer to them as Spain Morgan and Blog Morgan. For obvious reasons... although BOTH do have blogs)... I digress...
Ok, since Blog Morgan and I made our announcement on Tuesday, I can't stop thinking about it, checking my email, Twitter, my blog, just to see the buzz about it. You guys... we have had such a WONDERFUL response.  I can only attribute it to our Lord, and his gentle pushing to make this happen. Who knew that there was a whole bunch of us ladies in the same boat??
God did. And He is watching out for all of us.
It's pretty flipping awesome!
(BTW... seriously email us if you are interested!! Start praying about it NOW to see if it's something you should do! Don't know what I am talking about?  Just click here to watch our video!)

~ 5 ~
Because I am so excited for our girls weekend, and keep checking said things, I am always on my phone. Technology is great, ya know, b/c I can use the wireless on my phone and STILL be connected, practically all the time. Morgan (Spain Morgan) has her computer, that she is letting me use. So, really... it's not that much different than being home.
Yet... I am always.checking.something.
I am in Spain. With one of my best friends.
I need to just UNPLUG and be.
With her. Soak up the culture here. Enjoy my time.

~ 6 ~
So, if you email me, tweet me, FB me, etc and I don't respond, please don't be alarmed.
I don't want this entire trip to go by, and all I remember from it is trying to capture all the moments on Intsagram or tweet the funny things...
I want to remember the time spent with my friend, catching up, good food, new people, speaking Spanish.  And, so I am.
But, I will still probably be on Instagram occasionally... b/c well, it's Instagram. :)

~ 7 ~
Also, I am asking for some SERIOUS prayers for the family of a good, good friend.
They need them. Like whoa. Please.

Okie dokie! I am out... and I will be sure to blog all things Spain when I return to the states.
Scouts honor.

Abrazos, amor y benediciones!

Go see Jen for more Quick Take fun!

My heart swells

Ok... first there was my niece, Charlotte.  Right when I found of my bro and SIL were pregnant... I loved the babe.  When I met the beautiful, tiny, perfect little babe for the first time... my heart wanted to burst.  I just loved her so very much.  She has completely changed my world, and it is still so amazing to hear her say "Aunt Den! Aunt Den!" She is now a loving, beautiful, sometimes sassy, three year old!

And then there is Zuzu.  I had no idea that I could love a babe so much that wasn't related to me. She has brought so much joy into my life, I cannot even think of her NOT being in it.  I am seriously thankful every.single.day. that God (and of course Martha and Tom) chose lil ol' me to be her godmother.

This was basically the position I was in ALL weekend.
And now... now I have Lorelei Noelle in my life.  I didn't think it was even possible to love another babe SO much.  I mean... my heart swells with the love that I have for this precious babe.  I am learning justalittlebit of the love that parents of many children have.  It basically just never ends.  You think you are tapped out... but then God just makes it happen.  And you can't turn back.  You love like you didn't think you were capable of.

And I do love Miss Lorelei SO SO much.  She is a perfect, little scrumptious babe created uniquely by our Lord.  And it's at this time with a new babe in my life that I am reminded of the responsibility I have to all the kids in my life.  To love them. To teach them. To help them grow into beautiful people. To help figure out their talents. To serve the Lord.

And it is also in these moments that I am reminded of the Lord's love... for them, for my family, for me.  I have alluded to this multiple times on here, but I do have a struggle with really believing this love.  But, I revel in these moments when I can can feel Him so strongly.

I had a WONDERFUL time doting on my nieces a couple weekends ago.  It was amazing to watch Charlie love on her little sister.  She is so sweet with her.  She loves her already.  I can't wait to see how they get along as they grow up.  It's a beautiful thing!

And now for some pictures, b/c let's be honest, that's what you want to see!  If you follow on the 'gram or Twitter, then you have seen most of these already! :)  But, enjoy anyway!

This is an actual pic from my nice cam. She was in the model mood! ;)
Also from my camera. :)
Sweet Lorelei.

Charlie just loves her sister... Lorelei isn't so sure about things.

What's better than eating pumpkin cookies with your niece?!
My heart.

Me and the girls!
I love this girl.

*Yes, for those who are curious... I am in Spain right now. :) I had a few posts ready to go before I left!

NAS: LAST one before the holidays!

Ah! I can't believe it's already the LAST post before our break!  Time sure does fly by, huh?!  Ok, as an early Christmas gift to you all, here is a little something from Morgan and I:

Eeeeeeek!!!! What do you guys think?! WE ARE SO EXCITED FOR THIS!  Please, please email us if this is something you are interested in!  There will be more information to come, so make sure to get on the email list for all the latest deets!

Annnnnd now... here are some of my thoughts on surviving parties/events as a singleton.

Hmm... the first thing that comes to mind: OWN IT.  I mean, we are single... we may be THAT person at the party, but really?  Who cares?!  There are many reasons we LOVE being single, so just try to remember those things when/if people go down the road of asking whyyyyy we are still single.  Maybe come up with a few responses to say when people ask you about your dating life... like what?  Hm, I am not too sure.  Quick things like, "Oh, it's ok! I am really enjoying all the traveling I am doing right now!" or "I love my life right now, and I am trusting the Lord and His timing." or "It's none of your business, ok? Sheesh!"

Ok, maybe not the last one. ;)  But, I think you get me.

Also... if things get awkward, just start asking people about themselves!  People love talking about themselves... their job, their kids, they house. Whatever. It depends on if you know the crowd or not as to how specific you can be, but really, for anyone, turning the convo back to them will keep it going.

Be sure to wear something you feel comfortable in.  There is nothing worse than going to a party, especially if you don't know that many people, wearing something cute, but super uncomfy.  Pick out something that you love, and get some new accessories!  You will already go to that party feeling confident, which will come across in conversation.

Have fun!  Yes, it's nerve-racking to go to these things by ourselves, but it's nothing to get too worked up about.  Enjoy being with your coworkers, family, etc.  Because at some point, when we are in a committed relationship (or community), we may not always be able to attend such things.  So enjoy it! Meet new people! And again, have fun!

What about you??? What are your tips for surviving parties/events as a single person??  Link up below!

And, that's it, ladies, until January 14th!!  I hope that you all have SUCH a wonderful Thanksgiving and Merry, merry Christmas!!!  I will continue to pray for you all.  Please pray for me, too.  Especially today, as I am traveling to SPAIN!!!!!  I am hanging out with my good friend Morgan and her hubby.  It's going to be awesome... and I will be sure to blog about it when I get home.

Don't forget to email us about our girls weekend!!!!

Daddy/Daughter Weekend

I mentioned a little while ago that I my daddy-o came to visit for his birthday. :)  He wanted to spend time with his daughter for HIS birthday... how sweet is that?!  My dad isn't a big talker... so there were a lot of moments of just being together.  And then laughing at the silly, weird, funny (sometimes not funny!) jokes and statements.  That's how my dad communicates.  Through humor.  While it is sometimes frustrating when you want to have a serious convo, I know he means well.  I know that he loves me and wants the best for me.  And wants to know my heart, even if he doesn't know how to respond.

So, dad!  I love you! Thank you for spending your weekend with me! I hope that you had fun down here in sunny (and pretty darn warm that weekend) Florida!  I'm sorry I got frustrated a few times and maybewasabitrude. :( I love you so much and I am SO happy that we got to spend that time together!

Will you be coming back?!

And now to share some pics.  This is basically a photo dump post... but, who doesn't like looking at pictures?!  We ate A LOT (we both really love breakfast... and diners!). Went to Starbucks maybeee multiple times a day.  We went to the botanical gardens in town.  Watched the infamous sunset.  Went to the movies (which, btw, was the FIRST TIME SINCE HONDURAS. Meaning, the last time I was IN a movie theater was when I was still living in Honduras! Isn't that crazy?!)! :) Enjoy!

Dad was using the camera at this time... can you tell?!

The butterfly garden was really fun! It was like a game trying
to get a pic of the little suckers!

**all of these pics were taken in manuel mode (with the exception of the very first two... they are iPhone pics)... thanks to trial and error, and dad's persistence! I am getting there. Slooooowly, but I am getting the hang of this thing. :)

Ah! It's NAS day! :)

Hi ladies (and gents... are there gents???)!

I had full intentions to write this post this evening... but, I just... can't.  I am exhausted.

I had THE BEST weekend doting on my obnoxiously cute nieces and then had a not-so-great day.  So, I am just completely tapped out.  Done.  I want to write soooo badly.  I really do.  There is so much swirling around in my head.  Pictures I want to share.

But, I can't do it.  I don't know when I will.  Because this time next week I WILL BE ON MY WAY TO SPAIN!

Holy moly... there are some amazing things about my life. :)

So, all this rambling to say... I miss you all.  I feel out of touch, but know that I am praying for you and thinking about all you bloggy friends.

Do you find that your non-single friends struggle with relating to you or vice versa? If so, in what ways? How do you handle it? What is something that you would like them to know or understand that they just don't seem to get?

Please head over to Morgan's where she is oh-so-graciously hosting for me this week!  I hope to see you next week :)

Paz y amor!

Next Week:
Surviving events/parties as a singleton
The holidays are coming up! Family parties, friend gatherings... and you're single. How do you "cope"? Any tips or tricks?

We are breaking from the Not Alone Series until January 14, 2014.  I know it seems like a long time, but we are coming up on a busy season of travel and family time.  We don't want to take away your time from what's most important.  Feel free to continue to blog about your single life experiences, but we just won't be having anything formal until January.

NAS: Fave Websites/Blogs

I think I am coming down with a cold... so, I am just gonna link a few blogs/websites here.

She writes about all sorts of things pertaining to the single life. She really has a great perspective, as she and her hubby got married in their mid thirties. She understands our ache all too well.
AND, she is a huge supporter/promoter of this here Not Alone Series. :)
Check her out!

This is a newer-to-me blog that is about the NOW in this life. They don't really discuss dating or chastity, but the other areas of our lives.  They definitely provide food for thought.

I don't always read all of their posts, but they do have some great ones! Written by young, Catholic ladies (hence the name!), on various matters of the faith.  Many of which are about singleness and waiting. They have also discussed many of the topics we have, too!

And this is for kicks... but if you are having one of those days where you are feeling really down and unworthy... watch this:
And be encouraged. :)

What websites/blogs/articles have you found helpful???
Link up over at Morgan's!

Next Week:

The holidays are coming up! Family parties, friend gatherings... and you're single. How do you "cope"? Any tips or tricks?

Ladies, we have decided to take a break from the Not Alone Series until January 14, 2014.  I know it seems like a long time, but we are coming up on a busy season of travel and family time.  We don't want to take away your time from what's most important.  Feel free to continue to blog about your single life experiences, but we just won't be having anything formal until January.

Quick Takes Saturday

~ 1 ~
I have been on an unintentional blogging hiatus.  I hate when that happens.
I always stress about NOT getting something up on the blog that isn't a linkup of any sort, including the Not Alone Series.
But, I think I just stress myself out... no need for that. This is MY blog... and I can do what I want! :) So, it's ok... if people want to read, they will... if they don't, or get annoyed that I don't post more often, then they won't, and how would I ever know?! :)

~ 2 ~
I really want to share about my weekend with my Daddy!
He came for his birfday... and we just hung out. And he showed me how to use my nice camera little more.  Maybe I got a little frustrated b/c I wasn't getting it... but he was veryveryvery patient with me. God bless that man! Here are some 'grams and iPhone pics, to hold you over:

~ 3 ~
Y'all know Jackie Francois and Bobby Angel, right??  And the fact that they are married now.
Well, they posted their wedding video on their blog... and it is just precious.
They have such a strong ministry towards the single people of our world, and it was awesome to see them finally get married.  Click here to watch the video!

PLUS! Jackie is in town this weekend for our diocese's youth rally! So! I might attend that... b/c I can still pass for a high schooler... right?! ;)

Morgan and I are becoming, like, real friends not just online bloggy friends.
We VIDEO CHATTED last weekend!  It was SO fun... and kind of surreal, but also normal.
I suppose that's a sign of a good friendship starting.

As Morgan pointed out in one of her quick takes (and I will shamelessly copy her), we are BEYOND thrilled that the Not Alone Series has reached so many ladies. I mean, it seems like yesterday we were chatting about how cool it would be if something like that existed, and then we realized that WE could just do it.  And, we did.  It's been really awesome. God is so faithful, reminding us that we are, indeed, not alone in this season of our lives. :)

~ 5 ~
I cannot wait to be there and to hold and snuggle and love on Miss Lorelei. :)
This was from a few weeks ago... she is now FOUR weeks! :)
~ 6 ~
Just so you know... there IS a non-dairy fro yo option out there...
TCBY is now offering Silk Chocolate ALMOND Milk frozen yogurt!!!
It's pretty darn good, you guys. It's not as decadent as the actual chocolate milk drink, but it is still satisfying!  So, for all you non-dairy eaters, find the closest TCBY to you and indulge!!

~ 7 ~
New hair cut... again!
I la la la LOVE it! :)  I just... man, I should have done this forever ago!

That's all for me today!  I hope you all have such a wonderful and blessed weekend!
Paz and Amor.
