NAS: Oh, It's Valentine's Day??

From the Google.
What are your thoughts about Valentine's Day? Do you
enjoy it? Loathe it? Not even realize it's a special
day? Do you celebrate it in any way?
Ok... so Valentine's has already passed, but let's still chat about it, shall we??

As evidenced by my lack of card giving and scrambling to send something to my nieces, I barely noticed it was Valentine's Day on Friday.  I mean, yes, I knew it was coming, but to be honest, it's not really that big of a deal to me.  I have never dated anyone during this 'holiday' so it's never equated to a couple's day in my head.  It's just another day...

But, really... it's another day to tell the people we love that we do, indeed, love them. [And to get more chocolate. Who doesn't love chocolate?!] We, as Christians, should be doing this everyday, but on Valentine's Day everyone is all "LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!" and "I love you!" and "I am so happy you are in my life!"  Whether those things are said to a significant other, spouse, parent, friend, sibling, aunt, grandparent, etc... it's a day alllll about love.  And, I mean... what's wrong with that?  So, we make it a point to tell those that are closest to us, that we do love them. Enjoy them. Are blessed to have them in our lives. In the hum-drum of everyday life, I often forget to tell those that I love, that I love them.  So, honestly, I am thankful for a day that reminds me to do it!

Would it be nice to have the romantic gestures of a boyfriend/hubby to dote on me?  Well, of course. But, that's not what love is all about. True love lies in the actions that we take in the everyday, normal of our lives to serve the other person.  Giving of myself to someone else by the things I can do for them (whether through words, cards, gifts, actions) is how Jesus asks us to love. God sending Jesus to this Earth, to die on the cross for us, is by far the greatest act of love there ever was.  So fitting that Valentine's was on a Friday this year. Great parallels there, but would take up way more of this post (and thoughts in my head), and I want to chat about my wonderful Valentine's date! Yes, I went on a date!

Will you let me do that?!  I mean, it includes my sweet goddaughter, so no one will mind, right?! :)

First... aren't these so pretty?!
The Orams dropped them off, and they were waiting for me
when I got home from work! :)
Who doesn't love getting surprise flowers?!

Mart and Tom asked if I would watch the babe so they could go to dinner, and of course I said yes! What better way to spend an evening than doting on Zuzu?! Nothing I tell you... nothing.  I picked up the babe and we were off to a wonderful dinner at... Perkins! haha Yes. I was craving some breakfast food, so we decided to join all the old people for a breakfast dinner at Perkins!

And it was perfect. Just perfect.

I love this girl so much.

I was making the kissy face, and then she started blowing
some kisses! Adorable.

We colored.
And do you see that kids cup?? Zuz thought she was the COOLEST
having her own cup!

Every so often, Zuzu would stop and look up at me and give
me this cheese face. It warmed my heart. It was like she was
telling me what a great time she was having!
That's two of us, kid. I was having a great time, too!

Then we sat in the grass for a little bit.

We got home and were able to enjoy our free "googie"!
Also... she just looks so old here!

Guh... this face. Gets me every time.
Needless to say,  I had a great day. :)  It was filled with so much love.... and that's what it's all about. Thanks for letting me go on and on about the joys of godmommyhood!
