We have chatted about our deal breakers/non-negotiables before, but how do you keep from letting your standards fall? What prevents you from just dating any guy out there? What keeps you going?
Whoa... hold the phone, people! How in the WORLD is it November already?! HOW? This year has seriously flown by. F-L-O-W-N by.
Deal breakers. Yes.
How do I keep going? How do I not let my standards fall?
I think I have surrounded myself with people (both online and IRL) that have similar expectations. Our faiths are our priority and we expect nothing less from our future boyfriends/spouses. It's easy to feel less alone (and crazy and snotty) when your friends are in the same boat with you.
I am not going to date just any guy, because I want to date a godly man. I want to share in that together. For me, the biggest thing: sharing in the sacraments together. The Eucharist. Confession. It's a beautiful gift, but to experience those things together with your future hubby is truly incredible (I would imagine). The grace you receive in general is awesome, but also for your relationship?? It can only make it stronger and pointed toward Heaven.
I keep going because I know I am worth it. I don't always feel like it - especially on those bad days when I am extra rude and negative and avoid prayer. I am imperfect. God somehow accounts for those things. His love and grace are more. I am not looking for perfect. Because I am His daughter, I am worth the wait to find a great, holy and godly and imperfect man who lives his life for Him only.
This is not to say that I am throwing all the non-Catholics to the wind. Our job as Christians is to meet everyone with the love of Christ. I fully intend to do that the best way I can- always. If something I say or do leads a person towards Jesus, then that is an amazing thing. Could that person be a guy that I marry? Absolutely. Nothing is impossible with God. Ultimately, He knows my story.
All I know is that I won't settle. I won't settle for any guy that isn't living a life for Christ, seeking holiness in all he does. There are no ifs ands or buts about that. :)
What about you? What keeps you going? Tell us! And linkup belooooow! :) :)
What ways do you run to implore the Lord's help when you are struggling? Do you always spend time in Adoration? Do you dive into the bible? Automatically go to Confession? Could you be better? And what about those times when things are good and you are joyous? Do you still give the Lord your time?
How do you pray at home? Do you have a special place in your house? How do you make that area special? Comfy chair? Prayer cards? What suggestions do you have to make a home altar? If you don't do this, in what ways can you begin?
Thanks, Danny, for the suggestion!
The obvious and probably expected: Thanksgiving Post!! :)
In what ways are you thankful? Talk about anything you want here, folks!
We will be taking a break for Advent/Christmas and resume with regular posts January 6, 2015!
