Not Alone Series: A Day in the Life!

Ohhh myyy gooooodness!! WE ARE BACK!!! Welcome, welcome!!! :) :) :) Morgan and I are so excited!!

First! A few "housekeeping" things that Morgan and I would like to go over before I get into my typical day! We are trying to be a bit more organized and make things easier for you (and us!), so hopefully this will be helpful.
  • Topics: we have updated our NAS pages to reflect the entirety of our topic schedule, thus far. We are still sifting through many a great suggestion, and will be adding more very soon. The schedule IS subject to change (if we find there is something that seems more pressing to talk about), so be sure to look at the most recent NAS post which will have the next 4 weeks, as we have been doing anyway. Does all of that make sense? If not, just ask!
  • Linking up/commenting: when linking up, be sure to link back to BOTH Morgan's and my page! And, since this entire series is about fostering community, please take time to read your fellow bloggers posts and leave some comment love. We always love when that happens!
  • On Facebook?! Make sure you are part of the NAS closed group. There have been some awesome discussions so far! Morgan and I sometimes post quick updates and things, as well. So, be sure you request to join!
  • PATRON SAINT!! We have been praying about a patron saint for Not Alone Series, and we would like your help!! Please comment here (or on the FB thread) if you have a suggestion! :)

Ok!! I think that's that. Let us know if you are confused or have questions! :)

Let's get back in the swing by sharing what our typical day is like! Tell us however you like, minute by minute or a blurb about your day! Be sure to answer these questions:
- What is your favorite part of your day?
- What is your least favorite part of your day?
- Are you making any changes to your daily routine now that the new year has begun?

My typical day. Well... let's just give you a general idea, shall we?!

MORNING
All important coffee station.
Wakeup between 5:30 and 6 (usually hitting the snooze), shower and get ready for the day, make my coffee/breakfast and am out the door by 6:30-7, usually. In the car I try to listen to P&W music, and really prepare for the day. Sometimes this is really nice, and other times I get really distracted and don't do it. But, I do try. I arrive at one of my three schools usually between 7 and 8 (I live a good 45 minutes away from 2 of my schools... so I am in the car quite a bit!).

DURING THE DAY
Well, I did a day in the work life a while back... so, feel free to jump over there to get an idea for that!

AFTERNOON/EVENING
I am done with work between 3 and 4... home between 3:30 and 5, depending on what school I'm at. The afternoons/evening vary for me. It's when I run around getting all the things done. Errands. Blogging. Tuesdays are young adult group nights. Thursdays are usually youth group core team nights. Evenings with friends. Hanging with Zuzu. Catching up on.. everything.

Getting ready for bed!
Yes, I wear that head scarf
every night.
NIGHT
Catch up on a TV show. Emails/blogging if I haven't gotten to it. Adoration. Get ready for bed (wash face, etc). And try to wind down with a book by 10. HA! I would like to say it's a common occurrence, but no. The computer pulls me in too much, sometimes... ya know? And then it's really late, and when I start the next day I swear I'll go to bed early that night. And the cycle continues.

SUNDAYS
Sunday evenings really start my week because I am usually at the 5pm Mass where I am a Eucharistic Minister, then we have youth group. So, my weekends are filled with all the normal laundry! Cleaning! Errands! to trips, church events, hanging with cool people. :) Oh and catching up on my TV shows, too. I know the week is starting when I am at church for 5pm Sunday Mass. :)

Fave part of the day? Probably any time I am not at work! ;) But, I actually really enjoy my bedtime routine. Maybe I will make that into a whole post in and of itself. Maybe. It's probably not that interesting to anyone!

Least fave part of the day? When the alarms goes off in the morning annnnd, the preparing my coffee and things like that before I go to bed. I don't really know why. Probably b/c it's proof that the next work day is coming! (hmmm... this is really sounding like I just LOVE my job, don't you think?!)

Any changes to my daily routine? Hmm... I started this towards the end of the year, but I want need to get back to it: no screen time while I am in bed. Meaning, I can't be checking IG or Twitter or reading blogs when I am in my room about to sleep. Once the alarm is set... that is IT!

And, well... there you have it!! I can't wait to read your "Day in the Life"!! I love them! They make you all that much more REAL! :) :) Imagine that. And don't forget to link up below!!

NEXT WEEK!
Looking Ahead to 2015
How are we going to make 2015 different than last year? What goals are you planning/making to be more YOU this year? These can be goals can be personal growth, spiritual life, physical/health, or even your love life! Maybe you don't have concrete ones yet, but it helps to talk them out and get motivated!

1/20: Children and Babes
Do you have children in your life? What is your relationship with them like? Do you have godchildren, and how do you form a relationship with them? Does having children in (or not in) your day-to-day life make you feel happy, wistful, or wary (of having your own someday)?
Thanks to Lindsay!

1/27: Selfies
Do you support the selfie trend? Do you think it promotes self absorption, vanity and narcissism? Is there a way to incorporate selfies into the Church's teachings of modesty, authentic beauty, humility? Thanks to Hannah!

2/3: Qualities in our Husbands
What are the qualities and characteristics that you are looking for in your future husband? We have talked about what we don't want, but it's good to have an idea of those things that are important to us. Discerning religious life? This applies to communities, as well!

  1. Yes, please tell us about your bedtime routine!! I completely agree that hearing about peoples day in the life does make them more real. Also I am super excited about the idea of NAS having a patron saint!! My first thought is maybe St. Anne?

  2. I love the idea of having a patron saint for NAS! My first thought was our Guardian Angels. I heard or read somewhere once that angels can be the best matchmakers, since they have the ability to guide two people together. :)

  3. Ahhh, to be able to be done with work by 3pm sounds fabulous!! Excited about NAS having a patron saint. I vote either Saint Raphael or Blessed Chiara Corbella.

  4. I don't mean to delight in your pain, but I'm so glad I'm not the only person who chronically goes to bed late! I thought it was just me and my years of a weird schedule.

  5. Ahh totally missed the link up! Well anyway, I loved reading your about day. SO nice that you have evenings off to do stuff. I feel like all the fun friend and church events always just happen to fall on days I'm working.
